Kim Kardashian has a new show out. Well actually, it's not really a new show, it's just a repackaged version of a "documentary" she produced back in February. The show follows around one of her self-obsessed buddies, Jonathan Cheban, and his obnoxious business partner, Simon Huck, as they "work" on starting up their own PR firm. I watched the pseudo-doc, The SPINdustry, when it was on TV and it seemed like it was trying to be a public relations version of The City, but with less-likable main characters, so I'm not sure why E! decided to pick it up as a series.
Maybe it's just me. I like reality television as much as the next guy-- mostly because I don't have any real drama in my life and I'm fascinated by some of these cocky, catty people that get their own shows. Who knew the key to success is not really hard work and determination, but an unpleasant attitude and an affinity for making (and then releasing) sex tapes with R&B stars. But don't get me wrong, I do like the Kardashians, particularly Khloe and Kourtney-- they seem more like real people and I like that they have a sense of humor. They're also not complete idiots like some reality stars on television these days (ahem, I'm lookin at you, Pretty Wild morons).
Good lord. If they could take any show off the air, I wish it would be that one. Pretty Wild is nothing more than an affirmation that it's okay to be unintelligent if you're somewhat good-looking because everything will be taken care of for you. This is not true, and I think it's wrong to condone disgusting behavior by such young girls. Especially when they're breaking the law and burgling people's private homes. What the hell? How on Earth did these buffoons ever get a TV show?
Alexis Neiers was the sister that broke into Orlando Bloom's house last year, shown below in a mugshot alongside her con-conspirators. I just got word that she has been released from jail after serving only a 30 day sentence for her role in the burglary. That seems like a rather short stint in the clink for breaking into someone's house and stealing their stuff. Am I wrong? I would definitely like to see her do some real community service, like picking up garbage along the high-way. She can be with her kind there. The garbage, I mean.
Neiers's thoughts on her misdeeds: "I wasted my life, and I found a lot of things I wanted to do in life, and I was able to strip away the negativity." Right, I'm sure that's the first thing this pole dancer will be stripping away...

Those have got to be 6 of the ugliest motherf**kers I've ever seen.
no! you can't like the Kardashians! NO NO NO!
I was surprised to read she got out of jail early too. But then Lohan is supposed to be out what, next weekend? Celebrities get away with all kinds of crap. I wonder what would happen if I robbed a celebrity and then raced down the highway with cocaine in MY pants...
Ok. Full disclosure: love the Kardashian shows. But also? Think they're insane. They let drama rule their lives and I absolutely hate it. I want nothing to do with that kind of stuff and it makes me worried since I never want drama like that around me! Do people REALLY live like that?
I agree with everything except for liking reality television. I'm not sure why, but I have always had a strong hate for it. But, I'm not going to lie, watching stupid people makes me feel better about myself. Jersey Shore comes to mind.
Jersey Shore and Real World are about as trashy as my reality TV tastes get. Which is probably pretty trashy. :)
For better or worse, Reality TV has its purposes...
@Smartypants, I know. It must be nice to be famous and get away with so much bad behavior.
