Fingers crossed!

In the Modern world, studying is considered to...Image via Wikipedia
I've been stressing over writing this cover letter, for an internship at a magazine, for a few months now. I finally have a final draft printed and tucked under my resume. My application form is filled and I have two writing samples I've printed out, one from this blog and another from my Examiner.com page. I even have a letter of reference from my friend and colleague, Amy, who I worked with after I graduated back in Philly. Everything is set. My dad called as I was gathering all the materials together and we started talking about resumes and what it takes to stand apart from the crowd when applying for a job.

This reminded me of a conversation I had on the phone yesterday with Alexis about people submitting videos of themselves talking about their good qualities and why they should be chosen for the job. I don't want to do all that! Do employers really hire the people that send a vlog in place of the standard format? I know I watched something about this on CNN, but that trend has got to be a cliche now. Who knows? I joked with my dad that I've never had to submit anything like this before for a job, and he told me about a time years ago when he wrote his resume out in the style of a comic strip. It didn't land him the job, but I think he was just ahead of his time.

I really hope I land this internship! I've been doing my best to stay busy while on unemployment, but I want a job. It's time. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I like how the light behind you makes you kind of look like you are wearing a hood or a wimple type thing...
Good luck though!

Oh man, I know how the unemployment thing goes. Maybe I should start trying out the comic strip approach to resumes haha. I like that idea.

Anyway, good luck to you! Hope you get that job, girl! :)

Gooooood Luck! I think you've got it in the bag sista. I agree with you on your sentiments of not wanting to do a vlog though.... they can meet me on the interview. I'll be sending good juju your way!

I can't believe people actually give video-resumes... so can you just setup a YouTube channel and ask several companies to take a look at it? Well, I have all of my fingers crossed for you!

If you do get that job, and you become really busy, I hope you would still find time to blog! Good luck, Tsaritsa! =]

(What's your real name? LOL.)
