Do you like my AX-cent?

Regional accents, I truly love them. I love listening to people talk in their thick accents and trying to distinguish which part of the country they come from. In an anthropology class in college, we watched a video all about regional accents and how they develop and how they're dying out. That makes me sad, because I feel like these things tie us to our roots and our community. Regional accents and regional slang are fun, and it's cool that some people can tell exactly where I'm from just by the way I pronounce the letter "o."

Sometimes someone will ask me if I'm from somewhere completely obtuse (some lady, back when I was working at Whole Fuzz, asked me if I was French-- say what?!), which amazes me in a different way. Anyway, some of my blog friends ( Harley and Lor ) did this video meme where you say a list of words in your normal speaking voice and then answer a series of questions which are supposed to help identity which region of the United States you are from. I thought this was a fun and intriguing challenge and I encourage all of my readers to participate by making their own accent video. Rep your hood!
