Image by Kurt Christensen via FlickrI posted this on Twitter, but I thinks it's worth expanding on. The United States has become a little too much like ancient Rome, right before it fell. We have a small group of rich people putting money in the pockets of politicians (also known as lobbyists), buying their votes so that they will put that corporation's or special interest group's needs before the needs of the people.
That small group of oligarchs is running the whole show. Do not be fooled. That same small group is responsible for everything that has gone wrong in this country. We have bridges collapsing, highways in disrepair, people out of their homes and out of a job, and no one is doing anything about it because no one wants to raise taxes just a little bit and wind up losing a vote or donation.

Another comparison to ancient Rome is the apparent disregard for this sorry state of affairs the majority of us happen to be in. A lot of us are out of work, or working for peanuts, but what are we doing about it? What are we doing to change this situation for the better? I'll tell you, if we could fill football stadiums with people who are sick of our needs not being met and want to do something about it, the way that we fill football stadiums full of people just for some bread and circus, we could really make a positive change.
If we could all just rally together and show those goons holding the strings that we're sick of playing by their rules, that a corporation is not really a person and should not be treated as such, and create a giant boycott until we are heard and the interests of the people are heard and met. Getting Obama's American Jobs Act passed would be a good start. The Wall Street protests that has been going on for several weeks is a great start. Now we just need everyone else to take a stand and make this country excellent again.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? AND WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
