The ghost with claws, in my bedroom-- a true story

I accept the existence of ghosts.

I don't want to say that I believe in them, because I think "believe" is too strong of a word, but I've had enough weird things happen to me that I really cannot discount the existence of ghosts.

I've also heard way too many stories from people who don't have anything to gain by lying to me about their paranormal encounters. It really makes me wonder.

Last night as I lay relaxing in bed, trying to fall asleep I had a funny thing happen. Every time I closed my eyes I would feel something pressing down on my face.

Whenever I opened my eyes the pressure would abruptly stop, and whenever I closed my eyes the pressure would begin again. This is not new. This is something that's been happening to me on occasion for months.

I don't think it's my sleep paralysis acting up again, because I was definitely fully awake, but I don't know what is about.

Maybe it's a symptom related to my TMJ disorder? It's weird, regardless. This is not what I wanted to discuss, though.

The other night I was laying in bed watching Storage Wars, one of many delightful shows about storage locker auctions and the people who buy to sell the hidden treasures within. Due to the recession (which seems to finally be taking a turn for the up), these shows have become incredibly popular. I like them the same way I like Antique Roadshow-- the idea of finding a priceless treasure in some old junk is very appealing.

Anyway! I was watching Storage Wars, Ben was brushing his teeth in the bathroom, and Sookie was laying on my chest. A commercial was playing and I had the volume on mute, because I hate commercials. I was day dreaming about something and stroking Sookie's back when I heard something rush through the bedroom.

It was the sound of claws on wood, the way Sookie sounds when she's running around the apartment, then the sound of feet trampling over the Persian throw carpet, the same kind of way Sookie scrambles and jumbles up the rug when she's running around the apartment.

I thought it was Sookie, and I looked up to see if she was laying on the carpet. But she was still laying on my chest, with my hand on her back.

It was loud enough to startle Sookie, too. Sook tried to jump up and investigate the noise after it happened, but I held her still.

I don't know how to explain it.

The whole occurrence took place in the span of five seconds. Ben did not hear or see anything, as he was in the other room, but he came in when I called him, clearly tripping out.

I've always wondered what Sookie is staring at when she looking at some invisible thing above my head, or just beyond my shoulder. I also wonder who's she's chasing when she jumps up suddenly and runs around the room. It's freaky, but maybe there's a ghost-dog or ghost-cat that resides in our home. I guess it's time to do another sage burning.

All I know is that I was definitely freaked, and had a hard time falling asleep that night.

I've experienced similar things too. Can't explain them so just think it must be my mind playing tricks.
